Description:

Job Summary

The Specification Manager is responsible for driving the structure, standardization, and quality of product specifications across Consumables - with a primary focus on metallic liners for crushers and mills. This role combines deep foundry expertise with cross-functional coordination to ensure that specifications are robust, consistent, and effectively managed both internally and with external suppliers.

While rubber, PU, and screening media are part of the scope, the focus will be on providing technical leadership and hands-on support for metallic products, and acting as a coordinator and advisor for the remaining portfolio. This person will own the specification governance process, ensure best practices are applied, and act as the central point for deviations, audits, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

Specification Governance & Process Ownership

Own and drive a standardized process for specification development, review, and updates across all Consumables product lines.

Ensure all specifications are stored, maintained, and version-controlled in relevant systems.

Align closely with Global Service Line Managers to maintain clarity on ownership and compliance for all specs.

Specification Development & Coordination

Create and maintain specifications, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), quality dossier templates, packaging, and painting instructions.

Review and validate specifications for accuracy and completeness across rubber, PU, and screening media (with limited depth).

Coordinate internally to ensure alignment across engineering, supply chain, and quality functions.

Metallic Liners (Foundry Focus)

Develop, validate, and maintain specifications and manufacturing instructions for metallic liners (crusher and mill).

Act as the go-to foundry expert for casting tolerances, mechanical requirements, and inspection criteria.

Collaborate with foundries and suppliers to ensure specifications are realistic, manufacturable, and cost-efficient.

Deviation & Change Management

Act as the central contact for managing deviations related to specifications—especially for metallic liners.

Evaluate and approve deviations in collaboration with service line owners.

Ensure timely implementation of corrective actions and maintain traceable records.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practice Sharing

Drive ongoing improvement of specification quality and structure across product lines.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and alignment of best practices between teams and regions.

Support initiatives to optimize product designs and tolerances for performance and cost.

Supplier & Workshop Engagement

Conduct supplier and workshop visits to validate manufacturing processes and compliance with specifications.

Prepare and participate in supplier audits and ensure corrective actions are followed up.

Strengthen supplier relationships and actively contribute to supplier development and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Quality Management or related field.

Minimum 5 years’ experience with cast components, foundry processes, or specification management in manufacturing.

Strong knowledge of standards and specifications for ferrous and non-ferrous casting.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional processes and influence without authority.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Experience with supplier quality and audit processes.

Preferred:

Background in consumables or heavy industry (mining, cement, etc.).

Certification in quality management, lean, or auditing (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor).

Working Conditions

Office-based, with regular travel to suppliers and manufacturing sites (20–40%).

Flexible working possible depending on role maturity and operational needs.
