Position Details

Reports to: Distribution Manager

Job Grade: 11 ($34.47 - $42.58)

Classification: Hourly (Non-Exempt) Full-Time

Department: Distribution

Schedule: M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Location: Delaware, OH; Olentangy Campus

*Must be available for occasional callouts, on-call duty, emergencies, and off-shift work as needed.

Summary of Responsibilities

Provide skilled labor, management and technical expertise in the operation, installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of water mains, hydrants, valves, meters and other related infrastructure on the water distribution system.

Essential Duties

Owns specific functions of the department, such as tap installations, repairs, workload management, and scheduling.

Serves as acting Assistant Superintendent in their absence.

Provides back-up support as an Operator and/or Foreman when needed.

Aids in employee training and mentoring.

Install and repair mains and other pipes, water meters, valves, new water services/taps.

Conducts periodic inspections of distribution system including tanks, booster stations, pressure reducing stations, and hydrants.

Operates heavy equipment, vehicles and tools.

Resolves customer concerns related to water service, leaks, and property issues.

Prepare reports, documents, and forms as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.

A high school diploma or GED.

Ohio CDL Class A license and OEPA Class-2 Distribution Operator License with five years of experience as an Operator or a Class-1 and a minimum of ten years of experience as a distribution operator, or a minimum of fifteen years of experience in water distribution.

Previous management and leadership experience is preferred.

Basic knowledge in the use of hand tools and motorized equipment.

Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.

Willingness to perform manual labor in occasional adverse weather conditions.

Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
