Summary
Under the direction of the Shop Superintendent, the 2nd Shift Supervisor oversees the production of the assigned product area, delegates the daily work assignments, and ensures the adequate levels of materials available for production, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
2. Supervises all shop floor personnel on 2nd shift though hiring, discipline, performance, conflict resolution and terminations in collaboration with the Shop Superintendent.
3. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain shop housekeeping standards.
4. Understand manufacturing schedules with the ability to plan, inform and delegate for upcoming projects including jigs, fixtures, labor requirements, production, and safety considerations.
5. Oversee the production of products, ensuring the highest level of quality at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company performance and quality standards and customer specifications. Accomplished through periodic inspections of work in progress and finished products.
6. Act as the technical resource to production personnel to address and resolve inquiries and problems. Assist in training employees in the production processes for new products.
7. Delegate work assignments to the production personnel, ensuring the best use of individual skill sets.
8. Ensure all personnel follow established manufacturing processes and meet production requirements while completing all required paperwork and other documentation.
9. Conduct and coordinate assigned department employee training on equipment operations, quality, safety and procedures.
10. Responsible for overall safety, quality, production, and customer satisfaction in assigned production area.
11. Coordinate with other department leadership and the Shop Superintendent to ensure production goals are supported and met through an established and communicated plan.
