About the team:

The Wireless RAN team is a small group of technical team players within the GTA Operations department working together to provide the very best service and support to our wireless customers.

Who we are looking for:

If you are looking to grow in Wireless technologies, we are looking for an experienced individual to assist in the growth of our Wireless Network. We need a team player with strong and effective communications (written and verbal) skills with excellent interpersonal skills. Someone with an inquisitive and analytical mind with the ability to ask the right questions to gather and obtain relevant information will be successful in the role. They should also have strong attention to detail, ability to follow through, and have a desire to make a positive impact on servicing our customers.

The Wireless RAN Technician I core responsibility is maintaining and troubleshooting wireless cell sites on the GTA network, and plays a critical role in supporting the installation, testing, maintenance, and optimization of wireless radio access network (RAN) infrastructure. This includes assisting with the installation and commissioning of new cell site builds, such as RAN equipment, small cell deployments, microwave backhaul systems, mobile cellular, and Wi-Fi solutions. The technician will be responsible for coordinating schedules and work processes in collaboration with contractors and internal wireless team members. They will also conduct thorough inspections to verify installation quality and ensure compliance with established standards. The Wireless RAN Technician I reports directly to the Wireless RAN Manager.

The Wireless RAN Technician I core responsibility is maintaining and troubleshooting wireless cell sites on the GTA network, and plays a critical role in supporting the installation, testing, maintenance, and optimization of wireless radio access network (RAN) infrastructure. This includes assisting with the installation and commissioning of new cell site builds, such as RAN equipment, small cell deployments, microwave backhaul systems, mobile cellular, and Wi-Fi solutions. The technician will be responsible for coordinating schedules and work processes in collaboration with contractors and internal wireless team members. They will also conduct thorough inspections to verify installation quality and ensure compliance with established standards. The Wireless RAN Technician I reports directly to the Wireless RAN Manager.

Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of wireless cell site equipment, including power systems, remote radio heads (RRH), microwave systems, coaxial and antenna installations for rooftop, mobile cellular, and Wi-Fi deployments.

Apply knowledge of 3GPP RAN architecture, RF design tools, scripting languages, and databases to support network optimization.

Install and manage various cable types, including fiber optics, Ethernet, RF jumper cables, and GPS units.

Utilize RF troubleshooting tools (e.g., Anritsu Site Master) to identify and resolve field-level radio issues.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all cell site configurations and activities.

Adhere to and enforce OSHA safety guidelines and company safety protocols.

Conduct quality assurance inspections to validate the integrity and performance of installed systems.

Respond to and resolve hardware-related alarms as part of field dispatch responsibilities.

Conduct site audits and ensure that cell site construction meets quality and compliance standards.

Collaborate with internal teams such as NOC, IP, and Transport, and engage cross-functionally to address and resolve network issues.

Perform installation and configuration of equipment such as ODB RBS 6101, 6102, 6131, and various RAN components (e.g., RRUs, CSU, DSU, PDU, BFU, SCU, SAU, DUG, DUW, DUL, DUS).

Monitor and analyze cell site statistics and system performance daily to ensure network reliability and efficiency.

Fabricate and terminate RF feed lines from antennas to BTS (Base Transceiver Station) equipment as needed.

Perform hands-on experience with radio signaling, OSS tools, and LTE/5G troubleshooting and KPI monitoring.

Interface with contractors and vendors to coordinate installations and maintenance work.

Demonstrate proficiency in working with Nokia and Ericsson RBS and RNC network equipment.

Demonstrate working knowledge of WCDMA, LTE, and 5G networks, including the use of data collection and post-processing tools for performance analysis.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Organizational support: Ability to follow company policies and procedures in accordance with contract/agreement(s) and Company Goals, completes administrative tasks thoroughly, accurately, promptly, and efficiently as possible with respect to human resources, financial management and profitability.

Technical skills: Constantly strives to increase technical knowledge to improve training tools through latest product knowledge, industry knowledge, and research.

Growth and Learning: Is curious and understands that learning is a lifelong endeavor. You own your learning and development, and you are committed to evolving.

This is what you need to have:

High school diploma or GED required; additional technical certifications in telecommunications or related fields are a plus.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications, including familiarity with wireless network concepts and implementation.

Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and variable schedules, to support operational demands and business objectives.

Demonstrated ability to maintain regular, punctual, and consistent attendance in alignment with company attendance standards.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel between work sites as required.
