Commis Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team.

As a Commis Cook, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of food under the supervision of senior chefs.

You will gain hands-on experience in various sections of the kitchen and have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes, ensuring high standards of hygiene, presentation, and taste.

Ingredient Management: Prepare and organize ingredients in line with the kitchen’s daily menu and stock requirements.

Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are cleaned and maintained according to health and safety regulations.

Support Senior Chefs: Work closely with senior kitchen staff to assist in the cooking process, learning different cooking techniques and gaining a wide range of skills.

Stock Management: Assist in the receiving, storing, and rotating of food stocks to maintain freshness and reduce waste.

Adherence to Standards: Follow all recipes and instructions given by senior chefs to ensure consistency and quality of food.

Health & Safety Compliance: Comply with all food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment.

Teamwork: Work efficiently within a team environment, assisting colleagues when needed, and communicating effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications and Skills: Experience: Prior experience in a kitchen, either as an apprentice or as a kitchen assistant, is preferred but not required.

Education: Formal culinary training is a plus but not essential.

Passion for Cooking: A genuine passion for food and cooking, with a desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring consistency in food preparation and presentation.

Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during busy service times.

Team Player: Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Stamina: The role requires standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
