Position Summary:
The Bilingual Sexual Assault Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services to survivors of sexual assault and their families, with a focus on Spanish- and English-speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide crisis intervention to victims of sexual assault by face-to-face or virtually.
Provide advocacy with third party agencies on behalf of a sexual assault victim by face-to-face or telephone.
Provide accompaniments for victims of sexual assault – Criminal Justice Accompaniment, Law Enforcement and Medical Accompaniments.
Provide the following assistance to victims of sexual assault: Assistance with Crime Victim’s Compensation, Information and Referral, Assistance with Texas SAVNS/VINE, Victim Impact Statements and Address Confidentiality Program.
Participate in the 24-hour crisis hotline rotation as scheduled.
Provide follow up with clients by telephone calls, face-to-face visits and written correspondence on a consistent basis.
Participate in weekly support groups by facilitating or co-facilitating group.
Provide community and structured education services as directed by grant requirements and Director.
Attend staff meetings, educational workshops and conferences.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Crisis Center.Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the criminal justice system and victim rights in Texas.
Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of marginalized populations.
Experience with grant reporting and compliance is a plus.Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with frequent local travel.
On-call responsibilities, including evenings and weekends.
May involve exposure to emotionally intense situations.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required.
Previous experience working with victims of trauma or in a crisis setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel locally.
