Description:
The Direct Mail Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used in processing and preparing mail for distribution, primarily focusing on mail-insertion and mailing operations. Feeds material into equipment, make adjustments, maintain logs, and ensure the quality of output while adhering to deadlines, as well as ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the work area.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Operates and maintains various mail processing machines, such as letter openers, postage meters, sorting machines, and inserters.
Performs routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
Troubleshoots and resolves equipment issues, such as jams or misfeeds.
Feeds material into machines for inserting, folding, sealing, and addressing mail.
Ensures accurate and quality output.
Sorts and distributes mail based on destination and type.
Maintains an accurate activity log.
Tracks and records mail processing activity.
Adheres to safety protocols and procedures.
Ensures compliance with postal regulations and procedures.
Keeps work area clean and organized.
Collaborates with other direct mail staff and departments.
May lift and move mail trays, boxes, and equipment.
May provide customer service at the window.
May assist with deliveries.
May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent related experience
Must be able to stand for an entire shift
Good organizational skills
Able to bend, move, twist, push and lift 20-30lbs throughout shift
Able to do multiple tasks at once
Flexible schedule with business needs
Working knowledge of PCs
Basic mathematical skills
Self-starter with strong attention to detail
Ability to handle responsibility and ensure timeliness
Solid communication skills
Ability to work independently and on a team making sound decisions
