Job Description:

Quality Fresh Meats, a well-established and reputable fresh food retailer, is seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher to join our team. As a key part of our operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality meat products while maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail environment where attention to detail, professionalism, and product knowledge are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

• Trim fat, remove bones, cut, mince, and grind meat to precise sizes and shapes for display or custom orders.

• Prepare marinated, seasoned, and cured cuts of meat, and create crumbled cuts tailored to customer preferences.

• Select and prepare meat for crafting high-quality smallgoods.

• Utilize equipment such as grinders, mixers, mincers, and tenderizers to process meat efficiently.

• Create seasonings and pickles by blending spices, salt and other ingredients to enhance flavours.

• Operate sausage- filling machines, smoking chambers, and cooking kettles to produce specialty products.

• Provide expert advice on the suitability and uses of different cuts of meat, ensuring customers receive the best products for their needs.

• Assist with menu planning, scheduling, and estimating food production cost when required.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment in accordance with food safety standards

• Deliver excellent customer service and respond to client needs in a courteous and professional manner

• Adhere to hygiene, occupational health and safety, and workplace cleanliness procedures

• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure daily operational goals are met

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Professional Butcher

• Certificate in Butchery/Meat-Processing or equivalent qualification (higher experience may substitute formal qualification)

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality

• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach

• Experience operating meat processing equipment and machinery
