JOB DUTIES

Womens Merchandiser - Manager

The Womens Merchandising Manager is instrumental in curating a product assortment that aligns with brand vision, consumer insights, and market opportunities. This role bridges creative direction and commercial strategy, ensuring the women’s line resonates with target customers while meeting financial targets. By analyzing sales trends, collaborating with design and sales teams, and continuously refining the product mix, the Merchandising Manager guides the collection from concept to marketplace, creating a compelling, right sized and profitable assortment that drives brand growth and customer loyalty.

Key Duties:

Line & Assortment Planning:

Develop and manage annual and seasonal development calendar.

Develop and manage the product assortment for each season, considering trends, customer preferences, and financial targets.

Ensure the product assortment aligns with the brand’s positioning and revenue goals.

Key Metrics

Set and achieve key performance metrics including:

SKU productivity, style-color productivity, assortment efficiency, size and fit ratios, gross margin analysis, lifecycle performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Align with sales and marketing to ensure an integrated seasonal go to market process.

Work with sales team to align with key retailers to inform the product assortment.

Use sales metrics from DTC channel to inform the product assortment.

Analyze sell-through data to make recommendations to inform future collections.

Trend Alignment:

Research trends and consumer behavior to identify opportunities in the Womens market.

Collaborate with the design team to ensure products are both trend-right and commercially viable.

Pricing & Costing:

Set target costs and retail pricing to achieve margin goals while remaining competitive.

Ensure the collection meets financial and creative objectives.

Calendar Management:

Oversee the seasonal development calendar, ensuring timely delivery of samples and production materials.

Skills:

Strong analytical abilities for assortment planning, sales forecasting, and inventory management.

In-depth knowledge of women’s market trends, product categories, and competitive landscape.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with design, sales, and production teams.

Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and garment construction.

Ability to leverage data and consumer insights to inform product strategy and line planning.

Proficiency in Excel and merchandising or planning software.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field.

5+ years of experience in merchandising or product line management, preferably in women’s apparel.

Demonstrated success in building profitable product assortments aligned with brand vision.

Strong understanding of cost targets, pricing strategies, and margin management.
