We are seeking a full-time, experienced Facilities Maintenance & Mausoleum Care Assistant to join our team. This position combines essential maintenance duties with supporting funeral services and the care of our on-site mausoleum. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to perform well in both fast-paced and sensitive environments. This role requires an individual who can efficiently handle a variety of tasks, from general building maintenance to assisting with funerals and ensuring the proper care of our mausoleum spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities Maintenance:

Room Setups and Transitions: Complete room setups for daily functions, events, and special classes. Ensure areas are well-organized and furniture is properly stored away after events.

Cleaning: Perform general cleaning duties across the campus, including trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, washing windows, and sanitizing restrooms. Maintain cleanliness of hallways, offices, conference rooms, storage spaces, and other common areas.

Repairs and Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and facility modifications such as furniture assembly, repairing custodial equipment, touch-up painting, and hanging teaching aids.

Grounds and Safety Inspections: Conduct daily inspections of the building and grounds for hazards, damage, or needed repairs. Ensure campus safety at all times.

Work Orders: Submit work orders for repairs or replacements as needed, ensuring timely action and follow-through.

Restroom Maintenance: Ensure all restrooms meet hygiene and safety standards, with frequent monitoring and cleaning as necessary.

Mausoleum and Funeral Services Support:

Funeral Service Setup: Assist with funeral service preparations, including room arrangements, equipment setup, and maintaining a clean and respectful environment for mourners.

Mausoleum Upkeep: Help maintain the mausoleum, ensuring it is clean, well-kept, and properly maintained. Perform landscaping and minor repairs when needed.

Grounds Care: Perform light landscaping, including lawn care, trimming, and maintaining the aesthetic of the mausoleum grounds.

Assisting with Funerals: Provide general assistance during funeral services, ensuring a respectful and dignified atmosphere. Help with the preparation of crypts or niches, as required.

Work Environment:

The work environment may involve moderate discomfort or risk, such as operating equipment or exposure to hazardous materials.

The workplace may also be subject to environmental discomforts, such as loud noises, temperature extremes, and inclement weather.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, masks, face shields, or other protection may be required based on specific tasks or conditions.

Position Details:

Full-Time: 35 - 40 hours per week.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to understand work directions and communicate in English.

Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions while maintaining quality work.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, interact, and work harmoniously at all levels of the organization.

Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety rules and practices, utilizing appropriate safety equipment when necessary.

Ability to promote and adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.

Willingness to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational school.

2+ years of experience in custodial work, including operating custodial equipment.

Basic computer skills for work order management and communication.

Physical Demands:

This position requires continuous moderate physical exertion, with some strenuous activities including standing, climbing, crawling, and occasional lifting/moving of objects over 65 pounds.

The role involves occasional repetitive motion tasks and may require handling potentially hazardous chemicals, with the ability to smell such substances when necessary.
