Description
The is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Principal. The Principal will function as the instructional leader of the school, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment, and driving academic excellence. The Principal will collaborate with the CHS Board of Directors, providing regular reports and updates while ensuring full compliance with all policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the daily operations of the SIUE-ESL Charter High School.
Foster and maintain a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment for students and staff.
Serve as the instructional leader, setting academic goals, implementing curriculum initiatives, and ensuring high educational standards.
Develop, organize, and coordinate school activities and initiatives.
Submit timely reports to the CHS Board of Directors.
Act as the compliance officer, ensuring adherence to University policies, State and Federal laws, and applicable educational regulations.
Supervise, hire, and evaluate all school personnel in accordance with University and state policies.
Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff members.
Collaborate with the Dean or designee as a co-liaison to District 189 and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to ensure charter compliance and adherence to state regulations. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
A Master's Degree
Professional Educator's License with Administrative/Principal Endorsement (previously type 75 Illinois Administrative Certification) is required for this position.
At least 2 years of High School and/or central office (district level) administrative experience is required.
The Director must be a proven instructional leader with positive experience working with professional learning communities and experience working in schools serving predominantly African American students and students in urban, metropolitian communities.
Experience with charter schools and with STEM initiatives preferred. Application Materials and Information:
