Government.nPosition Summary:nTESAT Gov (an Airbus U.S.

subsidiary) is looking for a driven multidisciplinary Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Opto-Mechanical) that will contribute towards the development and integration of optical communication systems for space applications.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in opto-mechanical principles to ensure systems meet stringent performance requirements to support the development and integration of advanced free space optical communication systems for satellite applications.

This role involves overseeing system design, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, and coordination with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting edge solutions tailored to U.S.

Government and next-generation satellite system architectures.nnPosition ResponsibilitiesnThe Senior Principal Systems Engineer will conduct technical assignments and support the completion of projects while working closely with programmatic leadership, technical experts, engineering peers, and the customer.

Expect to be involved in the full lifecycle of development, from requirements definition through production, integration and operations, deriving technical approaches to challenging problems with support, and communicating technically complex information in a succinct and concise manner.nSystems Engineering: 75%nnCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, internally and externally, to accomplish technical programmatic and internal objectives for optical communication payloads for space-based applications.nOversee the development of technical documentation, including design specifications, interface control documents, and test plans to successfully delivery space qualified hardware for space vehicle programs.nDevelop and manage system requirements, ensuring alignment with customer specification and mission objectives.nSupport program management in planning, scheduling, and risk assessment activities.nEngage with customers and stakeholders to present technical solutions and gather feedback.nnAdditional Responsibilities: 25% nnAssist with the creation of internal guidelines, processes, and procedures in support of programmatic and project execution activities.nSupport TESAT Gov's OCT development product roadmap by conducting trade studies and analytical efforts to develop new solutions and optimize cost savings through design modifications.nnQualified Experience / Skills / Training: nEducation:nnBachelor's degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics or other STEM related scientific fields.nPreferred: Masters or PhD degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics or other STEM related scientific fields.nnExperience:nn18 years (15 years with a master's degree) of progressive experience in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, or physicsnProven track record directly related to the development of opto-mechanical systems or free-space optics.nProven design and development track-record with spacecraft hardware, starting from conceptual designs and tradeoffs thru detailed design, development, manufacture, integration, test, deployment, and operations.nnKnowledge of opto-mechanical concepts, including structural stability, thermal effects, and vibration dynamics.nFamiliarity with optical communication and their elemental functions.nFamiliarity with radiation sensitive electronics.nnn8+ years of space hardware related engineering experience pertaining to the:nnSpacecraft electronics hardwarenDefinition, development, and delivery of space qualified hardware.nnnSpace hardware survivability related analytical experience is desirable.

nnKnowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:nnDemonstrated experience with systems architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, and requirements verification and validation (e.g.

Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrices)nUnderstanding of space systems, technologies, and product.nExperience and familiarity with U.S government contract execution.nDemonstrated ability to deliver and communicate practical results within a highly technical environment.nDemonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of engineering and integration activities.nnTravel Required: nn25% Domestic and InternationalnnEligibility:nnUS Citizenship requirednnClearance:nnAbility to obtain and maintain a Government security clearancenActive DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirablennNature of Contacts:nRole includes involved communication with internal and external parties on a frequent basis.

nPhysical Requirements:nn Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.n Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
