POSITION SUMMARY:
Experience in chemical production background or of production operations would be preferable and training will be given over 6 months for you to succeed in your role. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manufacture Active Pharmaceutical Product via a seven-stage process.
sample reactions and undertake in-process analysis using good laboratory procedures
complete relevant documentation to an approved standard.
sample and check-in incoming goods plus Intermediates
maintain with Continuous Improvement
work to agreed SOPs to ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, ISO 9002 and 14001 Standards and systems
multi-task with one or more of the following:
SHE audits and implementation, process and plant validation, waste stream management, housekeeping audits and implementation, consumables ordering, effluent treatment and control and discharge, training of personnel on process and procedural requirements, control access and supervise contractors, work permit issuing, undertaking training in First Aid, Fire Fighting, Breathing Apparatus use and maintenance, some equipment maintenance (e.g. filters, pumps, etc) and calibration checks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: GCSE level essential. Higher qualifications in a chemical or engineering discipline desirable.
Experience: Ideally experience in a chemical production background. A good knowledge of health and safety, especially with respect to hazardous chemicals. Otherwise, significant experience of production operations, preferably within a GMP manufacturing environment.
Engineering skills desirable.
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office applications: Basic know ledge is essential, Intermediate is desirable.
License/Certifications: Current Forklift truck license an advantage.
COMPETENCIES/CONDUCT:
Operate in a flexible manner to achieve the set goals. Requires training in many activities and being able to apply that knowledge across the various production streams
Team members must be able to demonstrate good communication skills in the following areas:
Technicians need to demonstrate a high level of internal communication within the department to ensure a smooth and safe operation and a high level of teamwork is necessary to achieve this
Technicians make external contact to suppliers for goods ordering, waste disposal, effluent management and Continuous Improvement projects
Technicians use portable radios as part of the safe operation and correct radio procedure must be adhered
Decision making skills required:
Technicians may need to make adjustments on manually controlled process operations to ensure the safe operation and containment of the hazardous chemicals
Compliance with cGMP and health and safety and environment regulations
Technicians must prioritise their weekly workload to meet the production plan.
Able to lead on improvement plans within factory, requires a good manufacturing knowledge and an understanding of factory/quality management system.
Able to train and coach others in risk assessment and auditing techniques.
Persistent and driven to achieve a final solution. A completer finisher.
