Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a portfolio of mixed-use commercial retail and office assets. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. The ideal
candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting and a thorough understanding of commercial property management financials.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the full-cycle accounting process for mixed-use commercial properties, including retail and office assets.
Lead and manage a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and manage accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts for the property portfolio.
Collaborate with property managers and asset managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and lender reporting requirements.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Work with external auditors, tax consultants, and other stakeholders as needed
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is a plus.
A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is required, preferably in real estate, commercial property management, or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, lease accounting, and real estate finances is essential reporting.
Experience with accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, tenants, and stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
