Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Project Manager to join our Real Estate team. This role acts as the owner’s representative and is responsible for the full lifecycle of construction projects—including 5–10 new store builds annually as well as other special projects. From permitting through store opening and warranty management, the Construction Project Manager ensures each project is executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management: Lead all phases of construction, including permitting, scheduling, execution, and closeout. Manage site development and vertical construction across a multi-state territory.

Budget Oversight: Manage an annual capital budget of $15M–$28M. Track spending, forecast accruals, and mitigate budget overruns through proactive change order management.

Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules. Coordinate vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.

Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between the company, developers, governmental agencies, and other external partners.

Risk Management: Identify, assess, and resolve construction risks and challenges. Propose cost-effective and efficient solutions, considering both direct and indirect impacts.

Vendor & Contractor Management: Oversee third-party contractors and vendors. Lead bid processes for remodels and improvement projects. Negotiate costs and manage contract compliance.

Design & Documentation: Review construction drawings and specifications for accuracy. Incorporate new design standards and provide continuous feedback for improvement.

Performance Analysis: Leverage project data to identify cost savings, efficiency improvements, and contractor performance trends across the region.

Field Oversight: Conduct field inspections to ensure construction quality, safety compliance, and adherence to company standards.

Safety Compliance: Enforce job site safety in accordance with Wawa policy and OSHA standards. Coach and document violations as needed.

Project Reporting: Prepare regular project status reports detailing progress, risks, and action plans.

Turnover & Warranty Management: Complete final inspections, manage the punch list process, and oversee warranty issue resolution.

Special Projects: Manage ad hoc projects including training center renovations, fuel system upgrades, and sustainability initiatives (e.g., alternative fuel, Clean Fill, Fuel Up programs).

Technology & Innovation: Stay current with industry tools and technologies. Embrace and implement new systems that enhance project delivery.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)

Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction management, engineering, or project supervision

Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software

Strong understanding of construction scheduling, risk management, and contract negotiation

Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory; relocation flexibility preferred

Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, as required

Location Requirements

Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Cincinnati, OH region . Frequent travel within Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and surrounding areas is required.
