The Just Peace Intern will be supervised by Rev. Dr. Sarah Lund, Senior Pastor of historic First Congregational United Church of Christ (UCC) and assist the congregation in living out its commitment to be Just Peace church, fulfilling the principles of racial justice, mental health justice, economic justice, food justice, environmental justice and LGBTQ justice. The Just Peace Intern will work in partnership with the Pastor, staff, congregation leaders, and community partners such as Faith In Indiana to engage in peacemaking and justice work. This internship will take place at First Congregational UCC located at 7171 N. Pennsylvania Street in Indianapolis, Indiana with the possibility of working with the national UCC Justice and Witness offices in Washington D.C.

The goal of this program is to introduce the Just Peace Intern to the national Just Peace movement as part of the United Church of Christ, provide a deeper understanding of the faith communities’ prophetic call and gain leadership experience in the work of peace and justice.

Qualifications: The candidate must be a junior or senior and have the desire/ability to learn quickly, work one on one with others, lead small groups, multi-task, strong communication skills, and open to people of various faith traditions.

Internship Expectations: The Just Peace Intern will be expected to work 12 hours a week during the 2025 Fall, will be compensated at $14 per hour and required to write a 250-500 word blog or personal essay about the experience at the completion of the internship. Interns will participate in vocational reflection conversations with others as part of the paid internship during the semester.
