Data Science Pricing Manager

Must-haves / required skill set:

Data science/Statistics background

Bachelor's or Master's in STEM fields - programs include Analytics, IT, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Engineering

Proficiency in SQL, Python, R and Data Engineering

5 + years experience minimum

Good to have / preferred skill set:

PhDs in STEM/quantitative fields: Operations research, Applied Math, Machine Learning, etc.

Experience in Pricing, Revenue management, Commercial excellence, Marketing, Supply chain, other data-intensive functional areas

Direct MRO Distribution experience

Experience leading a highly technical team

Job Summary

Leads a team of Pricing Analysts to develop and utilize data insights in pricing the assortment of a business to business distributor while partnering with stakeholders from other functional teams to ensure that pricing optimizes both sales performance and company profitability.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

Leads the development and execution of the organization’s price strategy.

Consults and advises senior merchandising leaders on all pricing decisions.

Ensures that competitive insights, data, and price elasticity are elements of price strategy.

Champions company response to market conditions as they impact pricing.

Analyzes sales trends and transactions to ensure pricing meets all market levels.

Partners with peer leaders to develop, test, and implement creative approaches to customer discounts.

Reviews and improves operating processes and performance metrics related to list prices and business performance.

Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Solutions require analysis and investigation.

Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

Work Environment

Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
