The Opportunity
Loop is building AI-powered tools to unlock the hidden value in your professional relationships. We’re looking for our first full-time engineering lead to help shape the product, architecture, and infrastructure as we move from Seed to Series A.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, loves building scalable event-driven systems, and wants to work side-by-side with founders on a high-impact mission.

Mission
Loop’s mission is to unlock the power of our professional relationships. The knowledge, opportunity, and collaborative potential inside your network is vast but difficult to access. We’re developing mobile and desktop experiences that help users discover, cultivate, activate, and expand their networks—powered by AI and great design.
We’re based in Brooklyn, NY, and are looking for someone excited to work in a hybrid model (1–2x/week in-person collaboration at our DUMBO office).
What You’ll Do
Lead architecture and development across mobile and web products.
Own the data layer - ingesting and processing data from multiple sources, resolving identity, and powering downstream recommendations and LLM workflows.
Design and maintain a serverless, event-driven architecture written in Typescript using AWS Lambda and related services.
Develop and optimize APIs that handle complex async/sync workflows and large-scale data interactions.
Integrate and experiment with LLMs, including support for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and multi-context prompting (MCP) approaches.
Collaborate with the founding team, product designers, and engineers to ship features with real impact.
Contribute to a strong engineering culture that values quality, speed, and experimentation.
Who You Are
Experienced & Versatile: 5+ years in backend development, with deep expertise in TypeScript and a strong command of event-driven, serverless systems.
Data-Driven: You’ve built and scaled data ingestion systems, including API integrations, webhook/event consumers, and pipelines that handle structured and unstructured data.
AI-Literate: You’ve worked directly with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, open-source) and have implemented RAG, MCP, or similar context retrieval architectures.
Startup-Ready: You thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where autonomy and ownership are key. You’re either coming from another early-stage startup or hungry to move faster than you can at a big company.
NYC-Based or Close: You’re within reach of NYC and excited about in-person collaboration 1–2 days/week at our Brooklyn office.
Builder-Mindset: You care deeply about quality but believe in shipping fast and learning quickly. You bring a balance of polish and momentum.
Qualifications
5+ years of backend development with strong TypeScript proficiency
Proven experience in event-driven architecture and serverless systems (e.g., AWS Lambda, Step Functions, SQS/SNS)
Experience building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines from external APIs, webhooks, or multi-source feeds
Hands-on experience integrating LLMs in production environments; familiarity with RAG, MCP, vector search, and embedding strategies
Solid understanding of REST and/or GraphQL APIs and scalable backend best practices
Familiar with both SQL and NoSQL databases, with direct experience using AWS-native options (DynamoDB, Aurora, etc.)
Confident managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (some exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines)
Bonus: Experience in analytics, data modeling, or internal tooling
