Description
Position Summary: The APP helps with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations. This particular position would assist our Medical Oncology physicians in the East Valley by providing weekend hospital rounding and night call coverage.
General Duties & Responsibilities
Performs complete evaluations on patients of all ages
Orders and interprets appropriate lab, x-ray and special studies
Establishes a working diagnosis based upon acquired data
Develops a treatment plan for oncology conditions in accordance with current oncology practice and in conjunction with the oncologist
Implements therapeutic intervention
Provides appropriate follow-up care
Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising oncologist or other healthcare professionals
Adheres to "call" schedule as assigned
All other duties as assigned Hospital Duties & Responsibilities
Conducts daily rounds
Evaluates care and order appropriate labs, special studies, IVs, diet, and therapeutic interventions required
Formulates and implements discharge planning and clinical follow- up in conjunction with oncologist
Dictates discharge summaries
Evaluates and provides appropriate intervention (in conjunction with supervising physician) for ER and nursing home patients Requirements
Education & Experience: Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent PA program degree
Current valid state medical license
DEA/DPS license
Previous Hematology/Oncology experience a plus but, not required.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
