Job Description
We are looking for an Accountant to join the team of an innovative and award-winning firm in Washington, DC. The Accountant will provide accounting support and work directly with senior management. This position is for both an operational accountant and a financial accountant with responsibilities in each area. The Accountant must have work experience managing multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, reconciliation, accounts payables and receivables and payroll. The Accountant will need experience in monthly, quarterly and yearly end processes with the ability to prepare, analyze and verify accuracy of financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Maintain financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Facilitate the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
Facilitate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
Perform general ledger, account and bank reconciliations and analysis as needed.
Process accurate and timely weekly and/or monthly billing and invoicing.
Manage accounts receivable with an emphasis and priority for maintaining healthy receivables.
Manage concise payables ensuring vendor bills are input into the accounting billing system.
Effectively communicate regularly with telephone follow-up calls and email communication to clients regarding past due accounts.
Respond timely to requests for information/reports from management as well as clients.
Manage payroll functions and manage electronic timekeeping systems to assist with payroll functionality.
Excel in a deadline-oriented setting while managing multiple ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field of study.
4+ years of recent, direct accounting experience.
Proficiency in QuickBooks online, ADP Workforce Now and database systems.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in MS Office to include Word, PowerPoint and Access.
Technologically savvy, being able to manage electronic timekeeping systems and database systems effectively and accurately.
Strong cognitive problem solver with critical thinking skills.
Exercise good judgment with strong work ethics and integrity.
Excellent communication skills (written/verbal), time management and organizational skills.
