Expected work schedule for the HR Generalist:

Full- or part-time, flexible schedule

Occasional evenings and/or weekends for specific events/projects

Attendance at several conferences each year, including IFI Staff Retreats

Pay structure for an HR Generalist:

Pay range is typically between $34,278 and $90,000, some support development may be included, based on experience and other factors

About the area and Responsibilities of an HR Generalist

The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the organization's human resources functions, including hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, and ministry staff relations. While this role supports the National team in Columbus, OH, candidates can be hired to work remotely.

HR Generalist Responsibilities:

Facilitate and refine hiring and onboarding processes, including job postings, candidate communication, and system setup.

Oversee tasks for delicate circumstances like providing reasonable accommodations, holding disciplinary meetings, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations

Manage and maintain HR and payroll software (Paylocity) to ensure payroll processing and administration of health and retirement benefits

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations

Monitor staff satisfaction and workplace concerns, providing reports and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications/expectations of the HR Generalist:

Personal commitment to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies, as well as ECFA Standards practiced by IFI

Maintains high standards of confidentiality

Administratively competent, well organized, and experienced in managing multiple projects, with a broad set of goals

A self-starter, able to work independently and in a team

Exhibits a positive, professional manner

Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google applications

Education/Experience Required for HR Generalist:

3+ years of HR experience in payroll, benefits administration, or employee relations.

Effective knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.

Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Paylocity preferred).

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resource Management (PHR) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment preferred

Cross-cultural and non-profit experience is preferred
