Lower School Art Assistant

Job Summary:

To assist Art teachers with the delivery of instruction and support classroom activities to ensure a well-run and well-managed classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Support

Reinforce learning concepts in small group or individually as directed by lead teacher

General duties to support an environment conducive to teaching & learning

General Duties & Student Support

Supervise students in classroom space to ensure safety and well-being

Promote school values & rules to help teach acceptable behavior

Clean, tidy, organize, and restore art classrooms, storage room, and display areas

Promptly prepare materials, tools, and classroom for lessons

Coordinate with custodians, teachers, and students to set up art displays

Observe classroom in order to maintain cleanliness and orderliness for use at all times

Communicate with teachers, students, custodians, and other people in order to assist classroom and lesson activities

Lift, store, and retrieve materials, especially delicate art works

Work with and prepare clay for projects

Assist with procuring supplies from local venders

Document or photograph classroom or studio activities in progress

Handle and hang posters, displays, and art works in a neat and careful manner

Attend divisional events and art team meetings

Selection criteria:

College graduate; Relevant educational certification would be a plus

At least two years fulltime working experience in a similar environment

Excellent spoken English and fluency in Mandarin required

Ability to function in a bilingual workplace

Ability to work independently/self-motivatedly, anticipate challenges, ask questions, and respond appropriately

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Desire to work as part of a team

Energy level and fitness for moving and lifting materials

Computer experience/knowledge is required

10-Month Position every school year

Working Hours: 07:30AM to 16:00PM, inclusive 0.5 hour lunch break

Expected Start Date: August 2025
