Hyde Park Day School (HPDS) is a unique learning environment dedicated to bright students with learning disabilities. We're seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Technology to lead the strategic integration of instructional and assistive technologies across our school community. The Director of Technology is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive vision for educational and assistive technology at HPDS. This includes leading staff training, supporting classroom integration, managing infrastructure, and ensuring our students and educators have the tools they need to thrive in a tech-enabled learning environment.Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Drive the school's mission through the strategic use of technology
Collaborate with leadership on long-term planning and innovation initiatives
Lead school-wide efforts to integrate technology into teaching, learning, and operations
Stay current on trends and research in instructional and assistive technology
Instructional & Assistive Technology Integration
Support teachers in designing and delivering tech-enriched learning experiences
Provide professional development on instructional tools and best practices
Train staff and students on the effective use of assistive technologies
Monitor usage and effectiveness of tech tools in the classroom
Infrastructure & Systems Management
Oversee installation, licensing, and maintenance of all educational and assistive technology systems
Manage inventory of hardware and software; ensure data integrity and compliance
Troubleshoot issues and coordinate device repairs and upgrades
Guide the research, evaluation, and acquisition of new technologies
Team Collaboration & Support
Actively participate in curriculum development, school improvement efforts, and student transition planning
Collaborate with educators to tailor tech tools to students' individualized learning needs
Provide direct support and coaching to staff and administrators on integrating and optimizing tech useQualifications:
Education & Licensure
Bachelor's degree in educational technology, IT, or related field (required); master's preferred.
Experience & Skills
Proven experience in a leadership role involving instructional or assistive technology
Expertise in staff training and professional development
Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Experience supporting students with learning disabilities is strongly preferred
Deep knowledge of current educational technology, including Windows and iOS systems
Effective communicator who can work collaboratively across teams and departments
