Do you have what it takes to shape the future of seafarer education in a leading global shipping business?
We’re working with a well-established, maritime organisation to appoint a Head of Crewing.
This senior leadership role sits within the Marine Personnel Department and will shape the company’s global maritime training strategy – building a future-ready, high-performing workforce that meets the demands of a dynamic and evolving industry.
About the Role: Based in Singapore, this role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive training vision across all marine functions – deck, engine, and dual-fuel operations.
You'll lead a cross-functional training team, work closely with global crewing partners, and collaborate with technical and regulatory stakeholders to ensure robust learning pathways, safety compliance, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities: Design and implement the company’s global training strategy, aligned with operational and regulatory requirements.
Lead the development of training roadmaps across all seafarer ranks, ensuring competency-based learning and structured promotion tracks.
Oversee cadet and officer development programmes, from recruitment to onboarding and continuous upskilling.
Drive innovation in training delivery – including simulation, VR/AR platforms, and e-learning solutions.
Collaborate with engine manufacturers, shipyards, and training institutions to deliver vessel- and equipment-specific training (including LNG dual-fuel systems). Ensure full compliance with STCW, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, IGF Code and flag state requirements.
Manage training budgets, vendor partnerships, and training centre relationships across the global network.
Act as the bridge between training, technical, crewing, and compliance teams – ensuring real-time alignment with business needs and industry trends.
What We're Looking For: COC Class 1, Chief Engineer (unlimited FG certification). Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Significant experience in maritime training, operations, and seafarer development.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and shipboard operational needs.
Prior experience in LNG-fuelled vessel operations and simulator-based training is a strong advantage.
Proven leadership experience, ideally in a crew training management capacity.
We Value: Strategic, forward-thinking leaders who are passionate about learning and development.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills – from regulatory bodies to training providers.
High levels of integrity, collaboration, and accountability.
An innovative mindset and ability to adapt to technological change.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in shaping maritime talent and operational safety in a globally recognised brand.
If you're looking to lead transformation in crew training with purpose and precision – we’d love to hear from you.
