Job Summary:
The Production Manager is a supervisor who oversees a company's production processes to ensure they stay within budget and enhance efficiencies. They are responsible for consistently finding ways to improve an organization's production processes and structures. The Production Manager reviews employees and equipment items to determine areas for enhancement, builds strategies to maximize team performance, collaborates with other departments to set production goals, schedules routine maintenance, and maintains quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts inventory and places supply orders.
Manages the scheduling and performance of team members.
Regularly assess and enforce safety standards in all areas.
Establishes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Evaluates Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of equipment and employees.
Analyzes equipment and processes to assess current and future state needs.
Directs a multi-shift operation.
Monitors equipment run time and performance.
Motivates, supports, and guides production staff.
Ensures all safety and health standards are met.
Communicates regularly with leadership regarding problems or issues impacting production.
Evaluates machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
Balances increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
Sets productivity goals for each manufacturing team.
Develops Standard Work documents and creates Detailed Work Instructions.
Utilizes Minitab.
Provides training and employee development.
Maintains a basic working knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
Ensures adequate scheduling of staff.
Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Required: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
Required: Minimum of 2-3 years of progressive experience in a production leadership role.
Demonstrated Experience: Proven ability to motivate, coach, and mentor team members, including leading and developing other team leads with direct reports.
Proven Expertise: Strong track record in project management, employee training, and improving productivity, metrics, and safety standards within a production environment. Requirements
Exceptional Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with all levels of staff and management.
Advanced Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
Proven Training Experience: Documented success in developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for safety procedures and production processes.
Leadership and Motivation: Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to coach, mentor, and motivate employees to achieve high performance.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to efficiently identify, analyze, and resolve production-related issues.
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, analyze production metrics, and make data-driven decisions for process improvements. Tools Used:
Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Google Workspace: Experienced with Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
Payroll and HR Systems: Familiarity with Paylocity or similar platforms.
Production Management Software: Experience with Domo, Admin systems, or equivalent data visualization and reporting tools.
Quality Control and Measurement Tools: Skilled in using various measuring devices relevant to manufacturing processes.
Project Management Software: Knowledge of Gantt Charts and project scheduling tools.
Statistical Analysis Software: Proficient in Minitab.
