Summary
Strong technical understanding of automotive closure systems, including design, development, and release processes.
Understanding of automotive vehicle systems and their packaging requirements
Developing part designs from master sections and design surfaces for Closure components.
Relevant experience and understanding of component manufacturing processes like sheet metal forming, roll forming, casting, and modern joining technologies.
Understanding of manufacturing feasibility/ design for manufacturing & assembly
Experience in managing engineering releases and change management for complex projects, including BOM management and related PLM activities.
Knowledge of applying various types of materials (steel, advanced high-strength steel, aluminum, adhesives/sealers)
Responsible to lead the design and development of weight efficient closure designs to deliver the highest level of performance in NVH, durability, and crash performance from a blank page through to production.
Create and develop designs that are optimized for performance, weight, durability, and cost.
Develop a testing plan to prove out design concepts and conduct physical testing to confirm the design meets performance targets.
Vehicle launch experience.
Experience working with vendors located in India, Europe and USA
Familiar with India automotive requirements.

Essential Skills and Experience Required –
5+ years of accumulated experience in vehicle body engineering
Ability to perform and create closure swing studies.
Comprehensive understanding of system analysis, system interface, and integration knowledge and experience.
Understanding of CAE tools and how they work. Using CAE out put to improve the body design
Proficient knowledge of DVP&R and DFMEA for systems and components.
Design and engineer parts and systems for the closures systems such as doors, hoods, decklids and sealing systems.
Develop conceptual packaging models for various closures components including sheet metals, multi-material components, seal extrusions and closures hardware
Work with other groups to ensure packaging compliance and clearance.
Own, drive, and confirm your designs’ performance with help from CAE, manufacturing, and suppliers, fast paced hardware engineering department.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Travel up to 20% of time domestically and internationally
Flexibility in hours based on international collaboration
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s in engineering (minimum) with master's degree Preferred.
5+ years in automotive vehicle design and development with increasing levels of project and team management
Significant experience and expertise in automotive areas eg: Closures, Mechanisms, CAE, Testing, Quality, production launch.
Experience working and accepting culturally diverse team environment and willingness to learn new ways of interacting
Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
