Project Engineer – Complex Electronics

EVONA – Hiring on behalf of our client

We're working with a pioneering space company that's looking for a Project Engineer with a solid background in high-complexity electronics – someone who can confidently lead projects that involve real technical depth. If you’ve managed hardware from concept to launch and know your way around FPGAs, PCBs, and subsystem design, this could be a great fit.

This isn’t just a coordination role – they need someone who knows how to run technical projects and isn’t afraid to get into the detail. You should be comfortable answering things like:

How do you go from schematic to manufactured and tested PCBA?

Have you led a project involving FPGA development – VHDL/Verilog, loading the code, verifying it on hardware?

Can you walk us through a subsystem (e.g. a radio, processor, camera, star tracker) that you’ve delivered – how it works, and what your role was?

What’s your experience with engineering gate reviews (PDRs, CDRs, TRRs) and how involved were you?

What You’ll Be Doing:

Leading the delivery of complex electronics projects – owning technical delivery, schedules, and collaboration across teams.

Overseeing PCB design, build, and test – from requirements through to validation.

Managing FPGA efforts – working closely with developers to ensure code is delivered, integrated, and tested correctly.

Working cross-functionally to bring components and subsystems through design, manufacture, and qualification.

Driving milestone reviews and making sure everything’s aligned with customer expectations.

Acting as the technical go-between – translating project requirements into actionable engineering tasks.

Supporting system integration and verification, ensuring everything is built to fly.

What You’ll Need:

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.

5+ years of experience delivering electronic hardware projects, ideally in aerospace or similar high-reliability environments.

Strong understanding of PCB assemblies, from design to manufacturing.

Hands-on experience with FPGAs – managing the development and integration of HDL code.

Comfortable with technical reviews and structured development processes.

Confident communicator who can hold their own with engineering teams, customers, and leadership.

Bonus Points For:

Master’s degree or systems engineering background.

Experience with environmental testing (TVAC, EMI, shock/vibe).

Previous work on space-rated components or subsystems.

This is a chance to get involved in proper hands-on engineering with a team that’s building some really interesting stuff. If you're someone who likes being close to the tech and making sure it all works, we’d love to chat.

Apply through EVONA and let’s get things moving.
