Job Description
SGM is currently seeking a Mid-Level (4-8 years) Bridge Structural Engineer for our Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction, or Durango offices. This position is full time.
SGM is seeking a structural engineer to join our Transportation Team. Our team is responsible for the design of bridges, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures for a variety of public and private clients on the Western Slope of Colorado. The key responsibilities for this position include working and coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team, development of construction documents for structural projects, leading or supporting proposal efforts, and self-managing design tasks with attention to the project scope, schedule, and budget. The successful candidate must be a fast learner who is an organized self-starter with a strong attention to detail. The candidate is expected to be a team player with strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate must have the following experience, abilities, and qualifications:
4-8 years of experience in the design and construction of concrete and steel bridges
Colorado PE license or ability to transfer license from another state within 6 months
BS degree in Structural Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Experience preparing structural design calculations, quantity takeoffs and developing clear and concise calculation packages that are easily reviewed by senior staff and review agencies
Experience in structural detailing of concrete, steel, and timber members
Ability to use software to complete basic structural analysis and validate results with simplified methods
Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Office and structural analysis software
Ability to coordinate design work with in-house staff and other design professionals
Ability to self-manage design tasks and stay within project scope, schedule, and budget
Understanding of quality assurance and quality control procedures
Valid Driver's License Additional preferred qualifications:
MS degree in Structural Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
Bridge construction experience (either office technical support or field inspection)
Bridge inspection experience
Proficiency with AASHTOWare, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, LPile, PGSuper, and RISA
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the CDOT Bridge Design Manual, CDOT Standard Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, and CDOT Load Rating Manual
Experience managing small to mid-size projects
