Description:

Provides patient care in outpatient and/or inpatient psychiatric care services for child and adolescent services. Diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and emotional problems in children and adolescents in an in-patient and outpatient setting. Provides comprehensive consultation and ongoing patient care services for children and adolescents with developmental delays in-hospital and ambulatory settings. Provides leadership participation of the pediatric behavioral clinic. Works with families to evaluate, treat, and coordinate care for children with developmental delays, behavioral issues, learning difficulties, and mental health concerns, including:

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Aggression and discipline issues

Autism spectrum disorder

Developmental delays and disabilities

Intellectual disability

Learning and school issues

Mood disorders

Regulatory disorders related to eating, feeding, and sleeping

Required Skills

Effective assessment, evaluation and resolution skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to remain flexible and positive in stressful situations.

Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). Required Experience

Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training. License/Registration/Certification

Current Board Certification or Board Eligibility in the specialty of planned clinical activity.

Current license to practice medicine in the state of Texas.

Current specialty specific cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; Education and Training

Completion of a four-year M.D./D.O degree program and medical residency.

Completion of a ACGME approved (or equivalent) post-graduate training in Psychiatry followed by successful completion of an accredited fellowship program in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.

Developmental-Behavioral Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics.
