NURSE PRACTITIONER ORTHOPAEDICS (CLINICAL & SURGICAL)

Job Description

We are looking for a Full Time professional Nurse Practitioner who is able to deliver primary medical care to a wide variety of Orthopaedic patients. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for caring for patients in a clinical setting, as well as assisting the surgeon in an operative setting. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and current medical records, scheduling and administering follow up appointments as needed, and working with a team of professionals to deliver the best care possible to our patients.

Responsibilities and Duties include:

Clinical: Performing initial screenings, health histories, and physical exams; Ordering diagnostic tests as needed; Analyzing results of diagnostics alongside the physician to determine treatment options; Serving as a resource for patients and team members in need of information about ongoing care, and providing guidance to patients and team members in order to follow the physician’s plan of treatment.

Surgical: Responsibilities will include being available during the physician’s “on-call” schedule to assist in any surgeries both during office hours and after hours. Providing “First Assistant” help during a variety of Orthopaedic surgeries, both elective and trauma-related.

Qualifications and Skills:

Candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing, 5+ years of Nursing experience, a valid Nurse Practitioner license, First Assist certification, 2+ years of surgical experience, ability to work within a team setting and take direction, familiarity with charting in an Electronic Health Record, strong written and interpersonal communication skills, and excellent attention to details in documentation skills.

Compensation is commensurate with both experience and San Diego County Nurse Practitioner salary average.
