The Counseling and Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Department provides a continuum of essential services to the most vulnerable youth in our community, including two crisis nurseries, an emergency shelter, permanent and transitional housing, a food and clothing pantry, street outreach, and support for minor victims of commercial sexual exploitation.
Our Crisis Nursery Program is the only one in New York state that offers free, low-barrier, immediate access that does not require a referral from any other entity. The purpose of this program is to provide childcare in a calm, safe environment to reduce the trauma on the children of families experiencing a crisis, including (but not limited to): medical emergencies, unexpected illness, accidents, unemployment, mental health episodes, unexpected death, domestic violence, homelessness, legal issues, unstable/unsafe housing. Our two locations in Rochester, one in the southwest quadrant (CNGR) and one in the northeast quadrant (Owen's House), are open 24/7 year-round.
The Crisis Nursery Program Manager is responsible for the operation and programming of both Crisis Nursery locations. The Program Manager, in partnership with the Assistant Managers, ensures that both sites provide high quality services. Duties include the supervision of staff, volunteers, and interns, along with a variety of administrative responsibilities, including adherence to licensing compliance, maintaining program outcomes, developing and implementing child development and enrichment programming, and creating positive community connections. This is a full-time (35 hours per week), twelve (12) month position.
The Crisis Nursery Program Manager also participates in the On-Call RHY Supervisor rotation (for 1 week, every 5-6 weeks). This emergency response system is intended to provide after-hours and weekend support to the RHY programs.
