Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Project Safety Coordinator is to minimize the risks of job-related accidents and to promote health and safety at a designated project location.
Certifications: Must possess at least one of the following certifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)
Safety Trained Supervisor – Construction (STSC)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in EHS discipline or EHS related field
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend safety walks, inspections, and/or regular meetings that may be required onsite
Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe equipment operation
Perform daily visual observations of the jobsite in addition to weekly documented site safety observations
Be visible, involved, and accessible to craft personnel onsite while providing coaching and recommendations for safety improvements
Fully understand NTI and Project Owners’ safety documents, management tools, guidelines, and procedures
Interface with Foremen and NTI employees on a daily basis to ensure safe work practices and PPE requirements are being adhered to
Manage incident reporting and analysis process for unplanned events onsite.
Understand and lead Emergency Action Plans for the site
Interface with local leadership and NTI Safety Director to ensure consistent approach to safety in the field
Collaborate with Project Manager, Construction Manager and subcontractors as needed to ensure safety practices are integrated into the construction schedule
Review pre-task plans / JHA's to ensure they are being properly completed on a daily basis
Oversee regular safety toolbox talk meetings
Implement site specific safety plans and JHA's for high-risk activities
Manage and upload all project safety documentation within project owner's online portal
Perform other project related safety duties as needed
Competencies/ Skills / Certifications:
Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software
Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers
