Description
The Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct faculty position, beginning in the Spring 2025 semester, in their unique dual Doctor of Nursing Practice, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia/Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. Rank of Adjunct Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is based on educational degree obtained, years of experience as an instructor and research, as outlined by Hofstra University's CBA. Teaching load varies, depending on availability and need. Typically, adjunct faculty can expect to instruct one or two courses per semester. The School of Nursing is searching for a faculty member who will share and contribute to our mission to transform healthcare by preparing ready-to-practice nurse anesthetists.
Hofstra's graduate and undergraduate nursing programs leverage the clinical and educational resources of both Hofstra University and Northwell Health, New York state's largest healthcare provider and private employer. The School of Nursing offers Doctor of Nursing Practice degree programs and Advanced Certificate programs in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), as well as a dual Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist/Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program. Our Bachelor of Science with major in nursing program, founded in 2021, prepares nurse generalists to be providers, innovators, leaders, managers, and coordinators of care, as well as ethical members of the nursing profession. Our Master of Science Cardiovascular Sciences and Perfusion Medicine degree program is committed to the education, mentoring and professional development of future cardiovascular perfusionists.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Providing instruction to Doctor of Nursing Practice (AGACNP-CRNA) students at the graduate level nursing courses as needed
Demonstrating competence in teaching
Creating innovative curricula utilizing experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory
Engaging in community service above and beyond faculty requirements
Engaging in lifelong learning as evidenced by participation in professional and faculty development
Evidence of progressive participation and leadership of national/international professional organizations
Maintaining clinical/professional experience in the field of accreditation of undergraduate and graduate-level programs, namely on Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Council on the Accreditation of Anesthesia (COA)
Functioning as clinical coordinators and adjuncts as appropriate
Maintaining compliance with COA accreditation standards and ongoing School and Program accreditation efforts
Developing and refining Nurse Anesthesia curriculum materials within regulatory and professional guidelines/domains
Participating in recruitment, selection and enrollment of graduate students
Overseeing off-campus clinical sites, off-campus clinical coordinators and graduate student clinical practice experiences
Serving as a professional mentor to graduate students completing doctoral projects
Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing or closely related field
Pre-licensure master's or doctoral degree with a Nurse Anesthesia major from a regionally accredited institution and nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program (or equivalent)
Current CRNA certification by the National Board of Certification & Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
Five or more years of clinical experience in the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role
Three or more years as a nurse anesthesia educator with knowledge of program administration
Experience with simulation in nursing or nurse anesthesia education preferred
Peer reviewed national/international presentations, publications preferred
Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, leadership and time management skills
Outstanding computer skills, including proficiency in Canvas, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Salary/Salary Range
$1,422-$1,794 per credit

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
