We are looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic individual to join our summer camp team! As a Summer Camp Staff member, your role will focus on creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for campers. You'll be responsible for leading activities, supervising campers, and contributing to an enjoyable camp experience. We're seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Summer Program for 2025, located within the Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday
HOURS: Between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
PAY: $15.00 per hour
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Ensuring Compliance: Maintain adherence to state guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and the host school’s rules for both staff and the program.
Creating Fun: Lead engaging hands-on activities based on the Healthy Kids Curriculum, covering a variety of topics like fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. You’ll also help kids with homework – becoming their homework hero!
Managing Operations: Handle key management tasks like accurate attendance and registration records, ensuring the program operates smoothly with the right staff levels.
Clear Communication: Use the Playground App to stay in touch with parents and families.
Teamwork: Work closely with your supervisor to provide quality care, create a positive working environment, and address any issues as they arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and interact with campers to ensure their safety and well-being.
Plan and lead various camp activities, such as morning assembly, group games, arts and crafts, water play, sports, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises.
Foster camper engagement, enthusiasm, and positive relationships.
Be a role model by demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Monitor camper behavior and resolve any issues with patience and professionalism.
Assist with meal supervision, clean-up, and other camp-related tasks as assigned.
Adhere to all camp policies and safety guidelines.
Provide first aid and manage emergencies when necessary.
Communicate effectively with staff, campers, school personnel, and parents as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years of age or older and have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
A year of experience working with children under 13 is a plus but not required – we value passion and potential!
Must pass a background check.
Must be medically cleared by a doctor to perform the job duties, free from communicable diseases including TB.
You are friendly, professional, reliable, and possess excellent people skills for interacting with kids, parents, and coworkers.
You’re physically ready to be active, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., and keeping up with kids throughout the day!
