Job Description
The Data Governance Steward III serves as a critical link between organizational business needs and data management, focusing on overseeing and safeguarding data assets to ensure they are utilized appropriately and maintained with high accuracy. This role actively participates in enterprise data governance initiatives, including a major implementation project migrating from PeopleSoft to Workday.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with IT developers and business analysts to document and track information/data flows.
Gather and document business customer requirements for HR data.
Map core HR data (e.g., worker history, payroll, recruiting) for migration and align future hiring analytics.
Validate solutions through data quality assurance processes.
Facilitate meetings involving IT, business analysts, and data architects.
Translate requirements for data mapping during migration from PeopleSoft to Workday.
Engage with Workday systems to follow end-to-end data flow processes.
Update and refine data definitions.
Performance Metrics:
Progress tracking and ability to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
Maintaining high data quality, accuracy, and compliance.
Availability and attendance in virtual Teams meetings.
Preferred Candidate Traits:
Previous experience in data migration projects with Snowflake, Oracle, PeopleSoft, and Workday.
Proven success in enterprise-level settings handling large datasets.
Team Interaction:
Regular collaboration with IT, businesses analysts (reporting group), and a team directly linked to HR.
Interaction with external parties when necessary.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Option 1: Minimum 6 years of analytical work experience.
Option 2: Bachelor’s degree or higher + minimum 5 years of analytical work experience.
Option 3: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field + minimum 3 years of analytical work experience.
Technical Skills:
Mandatory:
Workday (enterprise management platform unifying finance, HR, and planning)
Snowflake (cloud-based data warehouse)
SQL
Excel
Optional:
Tableau experience is helpful (optional but nice-to-have)
SAS (rarely used; limited need for running jobs in SAS)
Soft Skills:
Strong understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, privacy, access, and security.
Familiarity with HR processes/terminology and workforce data structures.
Experience working with PeopleSoft and Workday systems.
Independent project management abilities.
Strong communication skills, especially conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
