The Institutional Reporting Analyst data analyst is a key member of the Institutional Research team, contributing to the College’s data and research efforts. This role involves enhancing data accessibility within the institution, ensuring the accurate and efficient delivery of produced data and information. The data analyst is tasked with retrieving and analyzing data from diverse sources to furnish insights and analyses crucial for planning, assessment, accountability, and enhancing performance across various areas of the college.
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Required Qualifications
· A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a field related to Social Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Data Analytics, Information Science, or a similar discipline is required. · A minimum of 3 years of experience in a dynamic, deadline-driven office setting is necessary, preferably in a higher education institutional research role or a closely related field. · Possess a comprehensive understanding of institutional research methods, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, analytical computing, and issues relevant to higher education. · Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing statistical tools such as SPSS or SAS, as well as expertise in data analytics. Experience with modern data visualization tools like MS Power BI or Tableau is highly desirable. · Proficiency in cleaning, debugging, and analyzing intricate datasets that integrate information from diverse sources is crucial, with the ability to swiftly create ad hoc database queries using contemporary desktop database tools such as SQL . · Competence in Microsoft Office software is essential, and familiarity with survey research tools like Survey Monkey is preferred. Knowledge of ERP applications, particularly Ellucian Colleague Student System, is considered a plus. · The successful candidate should be capable of independently handling complex assignments, collaborating effectively with others, and maintaining positive working relationships. · Strong time and project management skills are essential. · The ability to articulate complex ideas and present analytical findings clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, is required. An understanding of how community colleges promote access, address community needs, and promote equity is desirable.
