Who are we looking for? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to oversee the safety operations for our warehouse locations, non-CDL fleet and CDL fleet. The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all employees by developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and policies. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify and mitigate potential safety hazards, provide training, and foster a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations

Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive safety programs and policies that comply with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.

Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks and unsafe conditions. Recommend corrective actions, as needed.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, standards, and legal requirements. Prepare and submit reports for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders as necessary.

Provide ongoing safety training for employees, including forklift operation, proper lifting techniques, emergency procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Investigate safety incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Maintain accurate records of incidents and near-misses.

Conduct routine safety audits and inspections of warehouse equipment, machinery, and working conditions to ensure all safety protocols are being followed.

Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all employees are trained and prepared for emergencies such as fires or injuries.

Foster a culture of safety by promoting awareness, encouraging employee participation in safety programs, and recognizing safety achievements.

Work closely with management to integrate safety practices into daily operations, providing guidance on safe work practices and continuous improvement.

Be in the warehouse, observe and hold team members accountable! Fleet Operations

Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs that apply to both CDL and non-CDL drivers, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, local laws, and company policies.

Create and provide ongoing safety training for all drivers, including defensive driving, accident prevention and vehicle maintenance.

Track and monitor driver performance, safety violations, accidents, and near misses. Provide regular reports to senior management on fleet safety metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

Investigate all incidents involving fleet vehicles, including accidents, damages, and safety violations. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Conduct regular safety audits of fleet operations, including vehicle inspections and driver performance evaluations. Identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues, and recommend corrective measures.

Stay current on federal, state, and local transportation laws, including DOT regulations and FMCSA requirements for CDL drivers. Ensure that the fleet is always in compliance with these laws and update safety policies as needed.

Maintain all DOT/FMCSA requirements (DQ Files, Clearinghouse, Annual Reviews, Etc.)

Assess driver safety scorecard and evaluate driver performance. Enforce corrective action protocols for unsafe driving behaviors and violations, which may include disciplinary actions or retraining.

Foster a safety-first culture within the fleet team by promoting safety awareness, encouraging active participation in safety initiatives, and recognizing safe driving behaviors and achievements.

Ride with drivers, surprise audits at drop sites, observe and hold team members accountable!

Other

Partner with the CFO and VP of People Operations to create a best in class risk management program, including managing the claims submission process.

Maintain detailed safety records and ensure all reporting requirements (OSHA, DART, AFT, etc.) are met.

Develop and implement return-to-work programs for injured employees.

Facilitate monthly safety meetings and provide regular safety performance updates.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Management, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years experience in safety management in a distribution warehouse and CDL/non-CDL fleet environment.

Experience with safety audits, risks assessments and compliance with OSHA regulations required.

Strong understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and safety standards related to both CDL and non-CDL vehicles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to conduct safety training sessions and create safety manuals. Why Join Us?
