Thomann Asphalt is a family-owned full-service asphalt paving company. Thomann's extensive experience has kept the paving contractor in business for almost 100 years. The Company's primary focus is on commercial and industrial paving and site work projects in both the private and public sector. We specialize in parking lot maintenance, including paving, patching, seal coating, crack sealing, drain work, and site work, which includes a full complement of grading, excavating, and utility installation services. We are currently searching for a Yard/Shop Assistant to join the team! This position will provide direct support to the Assets Manager to ensure that all aspects of materials and equipment are maintained and available for immediate use at job sites.
Essential Functions
Assists in the loading and unloading of material coming in and leaving the yard
Operates equipment, as needed, to assist in the delivery of materials to job sites
Maintains an inventory record of materials received and used
Inspects incoming materials and verifies invoices
General housekeeping and maintenance of equipment, trucks, mechanic shop and yard areas
Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in both an indoor and outdoor work environment, in all weather conditions.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand and occasionally climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb and descend a flight of stairs as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Extended hours, nights and weekend work may be necessary based on business needs. While in season the typical work week is approximately 40-50 hours.
Travel
This position does not require travel and out of town work on occasion.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Class B CDL is a plus
Previous equipment (skid steer, excavator, etc.) operating experience is preferred
OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred but not required
