RESPONSIBLE TO: BUILDING ADMINISTRATION WITH HEAD DIRECTOR INPUT

JOB GOAL: Helps manage the marching band program. Promotes school pride.

QUALIFICATIONS:

? Acts according to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

? Available to work a non-traditional schedule and irregular hours when needed.

? Embraces high-performance standards (e.g., engagement, proficiency, resilience, etc.)

? Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.

? Marching band leadership skills verified by training and relevant work experience.

? Active listening, creative problem solving, and good time management skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Helps direct program activities. Provides opportunities for students to enhance skills, build

positive peer relationships, and develop leadership qualities.

? Works collaboratively with all directors to address issues

? Able to fulfill duties of head director in the event of their absence

? Collaborates with the marching band director to implement a cohesive performance

program.

? Conducts warm-up activities and synchronized movement instruction.

? Encourages student participation. Monitors the accuracy of internal-external

communications.

? Ensures participants receive appropriate instruction, support, and opportunities to

participate. Provides proactive supervision for all program activities.

? Helps coordinate off-season activities (e.g., practice schedules, training clinics, etc.)

? Helps develop halftime shows, spirit day activities, parades/civic event performances, etc.

? Helps develop performance routines, visual effects, interpretive movements, props, etc.

? Helps select challenging performance programs that are attainable for students.

? Identifies work priorities to focus on tasks that require immediate attention.

? Maintains orderly work/storage areas.

? Prepares/restores shared program sites.

? Preserves reference materials for future programs (e.g., advertising, correspondence,

participant information, photos, publicity, scheduling, staffing, videotapes, volunteer

activities, etc.)

? Provides opportunities for program participants to critique activities and suggest

enhancements.

? Verifies equipment is appropriate for the physical development and skill level of each

participant.

? Expectations: Travel on buses to all events, Attend all performances unless attendance is

excuse, Schedule extra events as needed

2. Consistently performs all aspects of the job. Diligently pursues high quality results.

? Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers. Functions as part of a

cohesive team.

? Helps ensure the accuracy and privacy of confidential information.

? Maintains a professional appearance. Wears work attire appropriate for the position.

? Protects district property. Take precautions to prevent the loss of equipment and supplies.

statutes when dealing with discrimination, inappropriate behavior, or suspected child

abuse/neglect.

6. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

? Helps implement district strategies to advance organizational goals.

? Working at heights, in confined spaces, or under diminished/variable lighting.

? Preferred Attributes: Active listening, creative problem solving, and good time

management skills.

? Physical Demand: Sedentary strength (seldom lifting/carrying more than 11 lbs.).

Duties require communicating verbally, far/near visual acuity, fine/gross manipulation,

reaching at or below shoulder height, standing/walking, stooping, and using a traditional

keyboard.

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated annually by the

building administrators.
