Project Engineer
What Will You Do?
The Project Engineer will lead and work collaboratively from ourNorth Prairie, WIfacility with fellow team members to execute project deliverables for all product life-cycle requirements. This position encompasses mechanical design primarily for sheet metal and plastics processes, incorporates electrical and commercial refrigeration components integrated into assembly, part, and ERP documents, and has frequent collaborating opportunities with teams in Process Design, Sourcing, Product Marketing, and Production. The following are the essential duties and responsibilities you can expect to do:
Lead/define product development systems and elements to influence marketing specifications, commercialize designs based on those specifications, and match process to ROI/volume constraints:
Design, layout, evaluation, and documentation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems utilizing 3D CAD and other digital analysis tools
Work collaboratively with fellow team members to carry out small to medium projects (1wk to 1yr duration), on time, and within budget
Work with R&D Laboratory for proper design validation and reliability testing
Work with vendors/sourcing to select and implement appropriate manufacturing processes to ensure cost-effective, robust products that meet the product requirements
Understand and institutionalize the critical interactions and design characteristics which ensure robust system performance
Manage/execute to multiple simultaneous projects and priorities
Provide/lead technical guidance and direction to CR/CO team/process
Create/manage multiple component items and product structures in Zero Zones manufacturing systems (PDM, IFS)
Lead/mentor project team members by communicating design goals through project planning and timely update meetings along with institutionalizing information in project planning and/or engineering guidelines
What Are We Looking For?
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of you in this position:
BSME, BSMET, or equivalent in mechanical engineering and engineering technology
5+ years design experience in mechanical design, systems and products integrating sheet metal, net-shape, and COTS components
Demonstrated experiential successes with engineering projects, patents, and other professional achievements and recognition
You also have some technical requirements in this position:
Sheet metal, weldment, plastic extrusions, molded plastic, and cast metal parts
Material finishes including stainless, paint, powder coating, and anodizing
Electromechanical assemblies, electrical packaging, and wire harnesses
3D Cad modeling in SolidWorks or equivalent
Design for Manufacturability
Tolerance Stack-ups
Statics and Dynamics
Thermodynamics and heat transfer
Strengths of materials preferably including FEA
