Job Description
This is a temporary/on-call/locums position. Seward Community Health Center (SCHC) is seeking temporary/locum Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP - Family Medicine) for our small community health center located in beautiful Seward, Alaska.
Working hours are dayshift during clinic hours, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 6 pm and Saturday 8 am - 6 pm (up to 40 hours/week). SCHC will cover travel expenses: airfare, lodging, and car rental.
We’re looking for providers who:
Want to cover staff's vacations for a week or two, or work in a locums position for 4-6 months, or something in between
Want a position with no on-call hours
Have a current AK medical license
Enjoy working with patients of all ages (newborn to 103)
Are comfortable treating patients with both chronic and acute conditions
Can learn and navigate new software with ease. It's a bonus if you've used Epic before!
Can provide excellent customer service to our patients and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose and treat acute illnesses, refer to urgent care as needed
Manage chronic health problems
Conduct physical exams, sports physicals and preventive medicine/wellness visits
Carry out basic primary medical care procedures (e.g., casting and suturing)
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
Assist in the development of a treatment plan and appropriate follow up care
Consult with and refer patients to specialists as needed
Educate patients about the diagnosis, treatment plan, and preventive policies and procedures
Work with members of the SCHC Care Coordination Team to manage patients with chronic/complex illnesses
Participate in community outreach and education efforts as requested
Participate in staff quality assurance meetings, provider meetings and other staff meetings
Exercise prescriptive authority as outlined in Alaska statutes
Document patient visit appropriately in electronic health record (EHR) - Epic Ambulatory
Keep current on new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or other training and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Licensure
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner (ANP) program
Professional license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with current Alaska license.
Accreditation from nationally recognized Nurse Practitioner program.
Must be in good standing with national and/or state professional organizations with current continuing education requirements and professional licensure.
Two years minimum working experience in a primary care or urgent care setting with rural, community health center and/or underserved clinical environment preferred.
Current DEA license required (or in application process at time of hire).
Current BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS and ATLS certification preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated professionalism in the practice of primary medical health
Knowledge of the behavioral and social health needs of patients
Ability to work independently and use good judgment in prioritizing work demands and managing time in a busy practice environment
Ability to listen and communicate effectively using verbal, written and electronic formats
