This Aquatics Supervisor position will be for the outdoor season, which starts May 17th.
Special Note: For candidates that have a American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate which includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Basics, please attach to application.
Under general supervision, is responsible for, on a seasonal basis, supervising aquatics personnel and managing the operations of an aquatics program or facility; performs related duties as required.
Examples of Work
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
Directs, monitors and evaluates the work performance of lifeguards and other aquatics personnel to ensure that injuries, complaints, disciplinary and related problems are dealt with correctly;
Plans, coordinates and assigns work schedules of aquatic personnel;
Provides in-service training to aquatics personnel in order to keep them abreast of new water safety techniques, emergency first aid and maintaining order and discipline in the program area;
Checks, interprets and records chlorine residual, PH alkalinity and bacterial content of swimming pool water; takes necessary actions to maintain safe water conditions;
Monitors aquatic equipment, supply and material quantities and levels, and requisitions items when necessary;
Maintains filtration and chlorination systems in proper working condition; repairs systems when necessary;
Ensures that all water and surrounding areas are free of dangerous debris; ensures that all equipment and fixtures are safe including diving boards, lifeguard stands, boats and safety equipment;
Plans, organizes and coordinates aquatic programs and classes;
Prepares information for dissemination to the public in order to promote programs, classes or other activities;
Responds to all emergency situations while on duty; administers first aid and makes rescues;
Instructs pool participants in swimming fundamentals;
Maintains records and financial reports of pool and program attendance;
May instruct pool participants in advanced swim strokes.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) seasons or six (6) months of experience in aquatics; AND, possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate which includes Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Basics.
By the completion of the probationary period, must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certificate.
For positions responsible for performing swim instruction, possession of a valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's certificate or Basic Swim Instructor’s certificate is required.
