Job Description
Responsibilities
This employee will perform geotechnical and civil engineering services under the supervision of the Division Director of Engineering.
Employee may also provide field engineering consulting services as coordinated with the construction services department.
Geotechnical exploration planning and budgeting
Review of project drawings and specifications
Review of geologic conditions and prior subsurface information
Preparation of subsurface exploration, laboratory and engineering scopes of work
Preparation of subsurface exploration, laboratory and engineering quotations
Preparation of quotation documents, qualifications documents and other engineering marketing documents
Geotechnical engineering analysis and design including but not limited to:
Review and visual classification of soil boring samples,
Review and interpretation of field boring logs and laboratory data
Soil characterization including strength and compressibility,
Shallow foundation design, including immediate and total settlement predictions
Deep foundation designs, including lateral loading analysis and deflection prediction,
Flexible and rigid pavement designs
Retaining wall analysis and design
Slope stability analysis and design
Characterization of sites with respect to seismic activity
Geo-structural engineering analysis and design of :
Excavation bracing and shoring systems
Earth retaining structures
Shoreline stabilization and protection structures, bulkheads, and walls
Underpinning systems
Field engineering activities including but not limited to;
Perform field testing utilizing necessary equipment and instrumentation,
Evaluation of shallow foundation sub grade conditions,
Characterization of OSHA soil types for temporary excavations
Evaluations of pavement and structure sub grades
Soil stabilization consultations
Construction materials sampling and evaluations
Preparation of field engineering reports.
Business development activities including but not limited to;
Preparation of case histories and other marketing documents
Participation in professional and trade organizations
Presentations to clients and trade organizations on geotechnical engineering topics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of science in civil engineering from ABET-accredited institution
Masters degree with specialization in geotechnical engineering
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Minimum ten (10) years related geotechnical /civil engineering experience preferred.

Must demonstrate flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meeting project deadlines
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must be willing to travel as required for projects (most travel is within 90 miles of assigned office).
Must be willing to participate in client development activities outside of regular work hours.
Must be able to stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, bend, crawl, climb; lift minimum of 50 pounds
Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of job
Ability to monitor sounds for changes in machine function
Work Conditions
Work exposes the employee to traffic hazards and the hazards of construction sites including dangers of moving heavy equipment, inclement weather conditions, and high noise levels.
Full-time
