Pay Range:

$22.00 - $30.25

The responsibilities of Automation Manufacturing Technician Lead are to support laboratory staffs in building and manufacturing science products. This position will assist with a variety of tasks within a laboratory setting that may include filling containers with product, feeding a plate production machine, sealing, inspection, labeling, vialing and packaging product, recording data, operating calibration and cleaning of equipment. Operation of automated/semi-automated liquid dispensing and labeling equipment are integral to the job. Additionally, since this is a Team Lead position there will be additional leadership roles including: scheduling and assigning work, participate in the Bio-Techne leadership meetings and convey information across teams in cross-functional meetings, attend MRB and CI meetings as representative of Automation group. Lead daily tier 1 meetings, solve production issue for the group, identify places for improvements, and ensuring that equipment is calibrated and logs reviewed.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Operate production machines to fill and seal microplates with products

Capping and labeling of products

Lead team in setting up, loading, monitoring and removal of finished products from various equipment including OysterBay, Hamilton and Standard Pack machines

Ensure up to date calibrations and smooth operations of semi-automated manufacturing equipment including electronic microscope, plate drying ovens, buffer degassing apparatus and balances.

Document results, process and refer to past batch records

Understand appropriate lab protocols and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) including regulatory awareness of chemical handling and hazards, compliance, and proper use of equipment

Consistently meet product cycle times and quality expectations

Perform specialized cleaning of manufacturing equipment

Understand site applicable databases

Follow daily work instructions and priorities set by production manager with a commitment to safety

Work may change from day-to-day within reasonable and expected boundaries

Participate in continuous process improvement efforts, identify and flag areas for improvement

Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Familiar with basic calculations and units of measure

Experience with pipets, OysterBay, Hamilton plate filling machines.

Good communication skills (verbal and written English)

Able to pick up heavy items (5-50lbs)

Ability to work in a fast-faced environment where multitasking is required

Works independently with minimal supervision on routine tasks

Ability to support and help others in the team

Knowledge of work performed by the department and learning how to perform multiple functions within the department

Flexibility to work on multiple tasks with increased effectiveness

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Education and Experience:

Bachelor Degree in scientific discipline and 1-3 years of relevant experience

Associate Degree in scientific discipline and 2-5 years of relevant experience
