JOB SUMMARY

The Mining Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of Mining Engineers to support Dolese aggregate operations through geologic exploration, mine planning, and aggregate crushing, screening, and washing process design. This role will also provide functional and technical support for management of land and leasehold assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage the gathering and utilization of geologic mapping, drill data from internal and external exploration crews, quality testing results, drone imagery, survey data, and the sales forecast to design 3-D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules

Manage the Mining Engineering team and ensure that they meet goals and objectives; select, develop, train, and evaluate the performance of team members

Utilize exploration and sales data to design crushing, screening, and washing process flows for both greenfield and brownfield operations

Partner with Project Engineering by developing mine plans to support civil development for construction projects ranging from large primary crushing installations to railroad spurs

Secure land-use entitlements and support aggregate operations in monitoring and maintaining compliance with entitlements and resource agency permits

Manage the annual evaluation/analysis of reporting sand and stone reserves

Participate in business development activities by providing insight into reserves analysis of potential acquisitions

Lead the development of an enterprise GIS platform (ESRI ArcGIS) to enable customers from business development to front line aggregate operations

Manage support to aggregate operations for short range mine planning activities such as haul analysis and blasting design

Support sites with process improvements

Troubleshoot process problems, support new process introductions, and provide accurate documentation

Provide cross-functional team leadership for new process start-ups, new process technology integration, and cost reduction, using Lean Manufacturing Principles

Perform all other duties, projects, and activities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study from an accredited university

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the aggregates industry required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing in a production environment

Demonstrated strength in engineering, technical, and analytical skills

Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills

A deep commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards

Self-starter who leads with high energy and passion

Effective facilitation, communication, and teaching skills

Ability to engage and influence with all levels of the organization

Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints

Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment

Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with good driving record

Ability to travel to various field locations for work purposes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lift, push, or pull objects of various dimensions up to 30 lbs. of weight frequently

Ability to perform 80% sedentary work and tolerate prolonged standing/sitting/walking

Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects

Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel

Ability to verbally communicate, hear, and see
