Job Description

Who We Are

Icon Health is a leading provider of value-based musculoskeletal (MSK) care, collaborating with payers and providers to enhance outcomes and experience for individuals. The company partners with health plans and risk-bearing providers to assume accountability for reduced total cost of care. By combining technology-enabled MSK providers with proactive care coordination and decision support services, Icon Health delivers multidisciplinary, evidence-based care.

We founded Icon Health on the conviction that every patient should be genuinely delighted with their care experience. By prioritizing patient-centered practices, ensuring clear care goals across the entire clinical team, and placing clinicians at the heart of care delivery, we aim to transform a fragmented system into one that truly serves patients. Our model uses a team-based approach to care, integrating musculoskeletal expertise and primary care to achieve better patient outcomes.

At Icon Health, we foster a culture that embraces bold thinking, rapid iteration, and practical problem-solving. We seek team members who relish challenging the status quo and thrive in vertically integrated roles—where ideas can swiftly move from concept to execution without layers of red tape. Above all, we value individuals who are eager to roll up their sleeves, tackle obstacles head-on, and create innovative solutions that improve the lives of our patients and our clinical partners.

Who You Are

We are seeking a Data and Analytics Engineer to architect, build, and optimize the data infrastructure that powers our value-based orthopedic care solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with clinical, operations, and product teams to ensure reliable data pipelines, robust analytics, and actionable insights for improving patient outcomes. You are passionate about turning raw data into meaningful information that drives decision-making, and you excel at balancing technical rigor with business impact.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

Analytics & Reporting

Work with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards or reporting tools that provide actionable insights.

Support advanced analytics initiatives, such as predictive modeling or machine learning, by ensuring data readiness and quality.

Data Architecture & Pipeline Development

Design and implement scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to capture, transform, and load clinical, operational, and financial data from various sources.

Establish best practices for data modeling and storage, ensuring optimal performance and maintainability.

Data Quality & Governance

Implement data validation checks and quality controls to maintain high integrity across all data sets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce data governance standards, including security and privacy.

Vendor Tools & Integration

Evaluate third-party data platforms, visualization tools, and related solutions to enhance data capabilities.

Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with Icon Health’s objectives.

Security & Compliance

Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure data systems and processes adhere to HIPAA and other relevant regulations.

Proactively monitor emerging threats and data protection standards, integrating best practices into day-to-day operations.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

Track and analyze system performance metrics (e.g., pipeline latency, query response times).

Regularly report data infrastructure performance to leadership, proposing improvements and optimizations.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows and tooling, from concept to deployment.

Foster a culture of innovation, data-driven decision-making, and proactive problem-solving across the organization.

What You’ll Bring

We are always looking for new team members who will add to our company’s DNA and have a strong passion for impact. None of the following are requirements, but they describe the qualities and skills that we think will help a candidate be successful in this role.

Experience:

3–5 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical field.

Proven track record in designing and maintaining data pipelines and data warehouses.

Technical Acumen: Proficiency with SQL, Python (or similar languages), cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and data integration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt).

Healthcare Background (Preferred): Familiarity with healthcare data (EHR systems, claims data, HIPAA compliance) is a plus but not required.

Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities. Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI) is beneficial.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams.

Leadership & Ownership: A proactive mindset for taking full ownership of data initiatives, balancing strategic goals with day-to-day execution.

Vendor Management: Comfortable evaluating data-related vendors, negotiating contracts, and monitoring vendor performance.
