What You Will Accomplish:
As the Sr. Structural Engineer, you will be an essential part of the engineering team designing, quoting, and detailing high-quality structural products for our customers in an ethical, focused, and professional manner within the Agricultural industry.
What You Will Do:
Perform structural design and analysis calculations utilizing governing code & standards, engineering formulas, skills, and expertise.
Layout and detail portions of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer.
Provide drawings for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by Detailers.
Review, analyze, and apply modeling results to code conformance requirements.
Utilize a gated design process while keeping a master project list to communicate progress.
Assist with gathering specifications and quoting as needed.
Assist with field support of structural products, communicating in a clear and prompt manner. Site visits may be preferred, but rare.
Create and develop new structural designs to meet or exceed customer & regulatory needs.
Coordinate and support prototype construction and validates the product to ensure it meets design and cost specifications.
Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience: 4+ years of structural steel design; Experience in agriculture or industrial projects preferred
Certification(s): PE or willingness to achieve PE within one year
Functional Skills: Exceptional understanding of structural analysis and structural steel design: AISC 360, AISC 341; Knowledge of codes including: International Building Code, ASCE 7. OSHA 1910; Detailed and analytical; thorough and organized; Experience balancing project risk and cost – ensuring product is affordable while maintaining quality expectations
Technology Aptitude/Skills: Exceptional experience with 3D Structural Analysis Software (RISA 3D is preferred); Previous experience with AutoCAD or other 3D design software; Proficient with MS Office
Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong presentation skills

Other Important Information:
Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise.
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Core Hours: 7:00am-5:00pm (will work between 8-9 hours within this time frame)
Typical Work Week: M-F; approximately 45 hour per week on average
Direct Reports: None
Work Conditions: Primarily an office environment with visits to Manufacturing areas and Customer/Job Locations
Travel: Up to 10% (job site/dealer locations, trade shows)
