GENERAL FUNCTION:

The basic function of the Optician are to attract and retain patients by delivering an exceptional patient experience, to foster patient retention, and to promote outstanding doctor satisfaction.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contributing to a warm and welcoming health care environment for patients and co-workers

Assist patients with selecting frames according to style and color

Selecting and explaining the proper lens offerings and lens treatments based on the patient's needs and prescription

Ordering patient's eyewear with accuracy

Checking in eyewear and dispensing

Ordering new eyewear, and/or repairs

Working with insurance and notifying patients of their insurance benefits

The skills and qualifications required for this position include:

Previous experience in optical is not necessary but is preferred

Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage independent projects

Accurate oral and written communication skills

Effective focus and attention to detail on multiple tasks simultaneously

Cooperative approach to setting and reaching team & induvidual goals

Sound judgment in protecting patient privacy and confidentiality

Good eye and hand coordination

Punctual

Basic math skills

Professional attitude and appearance

High School diploma or equivalent
