Dispatcher Job Status: UNTIL FILLED Posting Date: 01/23/2025 Posting Number: 012662 Location: Transportation Position Title: Dispatcher Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Director of Transportation Primary Purpose: Perform a variety of dispatching and reception functions required in the operation of the Transportation Department and act as the information desk.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: * High School Diploma or GED * Possess or be able to obtain a valid Texas Commercial Driver License Class B with P and S endorsements within 90 days of employment.
Special Knowledge/Skills: * Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed * Basic accounting skills * Computer applications * Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable Experience: Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Provide dispatching and reception for the department.
* Provide administrative support for the department.
* Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive matters.
* Distribute department mail.
* Route telephone calls and visitors to appropriate staff members.
* File and retrieve documents.
* Act as relief driver as needed.
* Answer general questions and concerns regarding transportation.
* Assure route and routing communication.
* Performs other duties as the superintendent may assign.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Customer Care Skills: * Provide professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff and other professionals at all times.
* Use proper phone etiquette at all times, speaking slowly and clearly.
Take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
* Ensure superior customer care skills are used via eye contact, facial expressions, voice inflections, body language, and an attitude of "going the extra mile" for others.
* Ensure all requests for information are dealt with in an appropriate timeframe.
