BHMT works closely with Kaiser Permanente’s (KP) National Workforce Planning and Development Department and its Regional counterparts to constantly adapt and expand Trust offerings to meet the needs of both our management and labor union partners as well as those of the individual participant. The purpose of Career Development is to empower clients to effectively drive their own professional development by providing personalized, confidential, and professional coaching during all facets of their career journeys.

DESCRIPTION

The Lead Program Specialist at BHMT plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional program management services while fostering a culture of world-class customer support. Reporting to the Director of Programs, this role oversees a team of Program Specialists and support staff, ensuring seamless execution of BHMT’s initiatives. The Lead Program Specialist is responsible for program oversight, continuous improvement, and maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders.

The Lead Program Specialist shares the responsibility with all other BHMT staff to promote and adhere to BHMT’s workplace guiding principles -- Teamwork, Diversity, Service Focus, Life-Long Learning, Innovation, Integrity, Supportive, Resilience.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead, mentor, and support a team of five employees, ensuring performance goals are met.

Facilitate learning and development opportunities to enhance leadership and technical skills.

Regularly meet with the Director of Programs to review employee and program performance.

Provide coaching, supervision, and professional development for Program Specialists and support staff.

Program & Performance Management:

Oversee the Wage Replacement Program Team, ensuring it drives employee engagement and program success.

Monitor program KPIs and use data-driven insights to assess and improve departmental performance.

Ensure compliance with partner/vendor contracts and maintain effective business relationships.

Evaluate workload distribution, productivity, and quality of work, setting clear performance standards.

Process Improvement & Documentation:

Continuously update and refine program policies, procedures, and manuals.

Partner with the Lead Project Manager to execute key Wage Replacement Core Team projects.

Act as a functional backup for all programs as needed.

Manage and analyze monthly and ad-hoc portfolio reports, including data verification.

Collaborate with the team to facilitate bi-monthly Program Specialist Check-In Calls.

Review and escalate policy exceptions to the Director of Programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS degree or equivalent required.

Minimum 2-7 years of experience in corporate environment required.

Minimum 2-7 years of experience in higher education preferred.

Minimum 2-7 years of lead program management experience in cross-functional business functions required.

Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or related team leadership and development experience.

Proven progressive successful organizational contributions over the last five years.

Experience in a variety of business operations.

Demonstrated program management leadership skills.

Demonstrated success at building team relationships and partnerships.

Strong ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and across organizational lines.

Ability to influence change throughout organization.

Extensive experience with Program/Project evaluations.

Experience with leading data-driven initiatives.

Advanced experience with building productive business partner relationships and networks.

BHMT is a fast-paced work environment embedded within the larger corporate structure of Kaiser Permanente. The position will be based remotely with a laptop and phone provided by BHMT. Will require occasional travel to organization-wide offsites and vendor/partnership meetings.
